NEW DELHI: The Anand Vihar police have registered a case against two residents of Shreshtha Vihar in east Delhi for having killed and tortured about 10 dogs in their colony.
The complaint was made by a resident of Gharonda Apartments in Shreshtha Vihar on December 27, after the two accused allegedly tortured and killed two dogs in the area and when the complainant objected, they beat him up as well.
According to S Sharma (name changed on request), there were about 15-20 friendly dogs in the area and there were no incidents of them having attacked any resident. Some residents had started cribbing about the growing dog population in the area and were caught randomly hitting the dogs. "Some of us got in touch with Friendicos to take them away but before anything could come out of that, the dogs started disappearing. I spotted other residents throwing stones at the dogs and harassing them. There was a pregnant bitch. On December 25, one guard informed me that Vinay Batra and S D Madan from the colony , had tied her up and taken her to Sahibabad and left her there.
The next day I saw a puppy whose legs they had broken. When I raised a fuss, they beat me up too," he said.
